Chris Salisbury

Guide & Facilitator 

Chris Salisbury is founder and director of WildWise since 1999. With a background in the theatre, training in therapy and a career in outdoor education, he uses every creative means at his disposal to encourage people to enjoy and value the natural world on the courses and programmes he runs for WildWise. Chris directs WildWise's acclaimed "Call of the Foundation" for educators-in-training. Chris is the founder of The Anima Mundi School of Storytelling, which offers a year-long programme, "Holding the Tail of a Wolf;" a teaching storytelling skill combined with deep nature connection. He works as a professional storyteller, and was the co-founder and artistic director for the West Country and Oxford Storytelling Festivals. He is married with four children and lives in enchantment in the Dart Valley, Devon. Chris has written 3 books: "Wild Nights Out: The Magic of Exploring the Outdoors After Dark", published in 2021 by Chelsea Green, with a forward by Chris Packham; and "Folk Tales of the Night" published in 2023 by The History Press, with a foreword by Martin Shaw; and "Folk Tales of the Wolf" published in autumn 2025 with a foreword by Bill Plotkin.
